VERY IMPORTANT:
* IF you are planning to play Outside of Ohio for 10u, 14u, or 16u age level,
PLEASE MAKE SURE to inquire about the pitching distance before sending in payment!

* Must submit a Travel Permit (or email approval) Prior to attending any out of state tournaments other than World Series.

The pitching distance for the 16u will be 43 ft in Ohio this year.
It was voted in as optional (40 or 43 ft) for 2010 ONLY within our individual states, but at World Series the distance will be 43 ft.
FYI: In some states, the High Schools will be starting the 43 ft program in the spring of 2010 and some will not be until the following school year.
I believe it would be a detriment to any team at 16u to have to change their pitching distance if they decide to attend the Worlds Series
so ALL Ohio NSA 16u tournaments will be at 43 ft.

The pitching distance for the 14u will be 40 ft in Ohio this year.
It was voted in as optional (40 or 43 ft) within our individual states, but at World Series the distance will be 40 ft.
FYI: Personally I am against the 14u division changing to 43 ft distance.   I feel that the 14u includes younger players that would not get a chance
to pitch, and if a player is on a HS team, she is probably playing with the 16u division anyway.   In some states, the High Schools will be starting
the 43 ft program in the spring of 2010 and some will not be until the following school year. I believe it would be a detriment to any team at 14u
to have to change their pitching distance to attend the Worlds Series so ALL Ohio NSA 14u tournaments will be at 40 ft.

The 10u pitching distance in Ohio and most other states will remain at 35 feet with the 11" softball.
10u Division: INDIANA and a few other states have requested to try a PILOT PROGRAM to hold some 10u tournaments pitching with an 11" softball
from 40 ft instead of 35 ft. This is NOT a rule change, just a pilot program to get feedback from teams, coaches, and pitchers.
The thinking is that the pitchers going from 10u to 12u have TWO issues to contend with - Distance difference of 5 feet and the 12" ball. They are
trying this at some tournaments to see if it would make it less of an issue when 10u pitchers move up to 12u division.

Q&A:  14u Players from two different teams want to merge for early tournaments - is that possible?
Answer:
As always with NSA, a team can sanction and play early in the year to combine the two 14u teams -
We will call this the COMBINED TEAM of Team ONE and Team TWO 14 year olds
This allows the 14u girls to play before the older girls (16u) are ready to play because of High School.
Once the older girls are ready to play, the COMBINED TEAM would be disbanded by the coach of record.  This allows all the players from the COMBINED TEAM to go play for their regular team WITHOUT it counting as their one release for the year. The COMBINED TEAM would lose any berths or points that were awarded them once they disband.

Once the COMBINED TEAM is disbanded, players from that team can be added to TEAM ONE and TEAM TWO.
THE ONLY issue is that a player cannot go from a Class "A" team to a Class "B"
Team ONE would need to be sanctioned separately - just cannot add the 14u players names until the COMBINED team is disbanded.
Team TWO would need to be sanctioned separately - just cannot add the 14u players names until the COMBINED team is disbanded.
Please let me know if you have questions.
