Super Worlds:
These are the cream of the crop teams. Teams that win a Super World NIT, place 1st-2nd in a National/Regional, place 1st-3rd in a World Series event, or win their respective State tournament earn berths to this prestigious tournament. There may be a couple of at-large berths awarded by the NSA National office, but these are the NSA's best teams that qualify for this event. The Super Worlds take place after Oct 1 and have separate divisions for Class B, C, D, and E teams.
World Series:
These are held the 2nd week of Sept and are usually 2 regions combined. Teams qualify for this event through World Qualifiers, Super World NIT's, World NIT's, State tournaments and National/Regionals. Some at-large bids may be given, but teams participation in NSA is a deciding factor in the awarding of those berths.1st and 2nd place teams in World Series events earn Super World berths along with $12.50 for each team entered in the event (up to $1000 awarded). Ex: 80 teams entered, 1st & 2nd place earns Super World berth along with $1000 travel expense money.
National/Regionals:
These are usually held the last weekend of August. These are Region championships which usually consist of a 4-5 state radius. Teams qualify through World qualifiers, State tournaments, Super NIT's, and also thru league play for this event. Region champions earn a berth to the Super Worlds along with $25 per team entered for travel money (up to $1000). Runner-ups pick up a Super World berth but earn no travel money.
Super World NIT's:
Open to any sanctioned NSA team in good standing. These are usually a regions best teams. Super NIT champions pick up a direct Super World berth along with $50 per team entered travel money (up to $1250).Direct berths mean that a team isn't required to play in the worlds, regional or states to retain the berth.
World NIT's:
These are direct qualifiers for the Worlds. The champion of this event picks up a direct berth to the Worlds and isn't required to play in the states or regional to keep the berth.
State/World Qualifier Tournaments:
The top 10% of the placing teams in a state tournament pick up World and Regional berths. 1st place in a World qualifier picks up a World and Regional berth. The top 3 spots in NIT events pick up World and Regional berths. Teams that pick up berths thru these events are required to play the state tournament to retain their berth. These events are open to all NSA sanctioned teams.
