Zev Rosen

A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Management, Rosen began his career with General Electric as a test engineer but his thirty-three years as owner of Good Friend Electric has brought him outstanding professional rewards. These include serving as President of the National Association of Electrical Distributors, President of the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce, serving on the N.J. Governors Commission on International Trade, receiving the 1981 Citizen of the Year Award from the Chamber of Commerce, and in 1986 traveling with an Electrical Technology Group as a Citizen Ambassador to China. He has also traveled to Israel and Russia.

Other business activities include being on the Board of Directors of the National Lighting Bureau, Director of Citizens State Bank, Chairman of the Association of Credit Executives, and President of the Designers Lighting Forum of Illuminating Engineering Society.

Zev Rosen's list of community activities would consume an entire newspaper page but he has been most prominent as President of Twenty-one Plus, the United Way, and the Ocean County Jewish Federation. He currently serves on the executive committee of the O.C. College Foundation and as Chairman of the Community Medical Center Foundation. From 1974-81, he was the Jury Commissioner for Ocean County. In 1979-80, Zev Rosen was the first president of Twenty-one Plus (Retarded Citizens Program) followed by 9 years as Vice-President. He has been an active member of the New Jersey Association of Retarded Citizens for 28 years.

In addition to the awards already mentioned, Zev Rosen received the "Good Scout Award" from the Ocean County Boy Scouts in 1990, was named Volunteer of Year by the Ocean County United Way in 1989, won the Citizenship Award from the Ocean County Bar Association in 1988 as well as being named a Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International. In 1980 he received the Brotherhood Award from the National Conference of Christian and Jews (Monmouth/Ocean County).

In addition to all his community activities, Zev enjoys skiing and golf. In 1989, he was a volunteer for the World Alpine Ski Championships and holds Silver and Bronze medals from ski races in Vail, Taos, and Beaver Creek.

Zev married his high school sweetheart whom he met 36 years ago in homeroom at Toms River High School. He is the proud parent of three daughters and a son.
